Privacy policy

As a user of our website, you will receive the necessary information in this privacy policy about how, to what extent and for what purpose the University Medical Center Göttingen (hereinafter referred to as "UMG") processes your data in the ILIAS e-learning system. The data is processed and used within the UMG for the purpose of further education and training of its employees, for the training of students of human medicine and dentistry and for teaching trainees of the schools for healthcare professions in the Bildungsakademie of the UMG.

This privacy policy is valid for the eLearning system ILIAS of the UMG (https://ilias.umg.eu).

Your data is collected and used strictly in accordance with legal requirements. Regulations on this can be found in:

Personal data

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person (Art. 4 para. 1 EU GDPR).

We store personal data in the UMG's eLearning system ILIAS for the purpose of administrative user management, for contacting and interacting with you and for providing personalized services (for the implementation of further education and training in work, study and teaching).

In principle, no data from the UMG's eLearning system ILIAS is passed on to third parties.

Data will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary to fulfill of a contract (vgl. Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b EU GDPR) or to fulfill legal obligations (vgl. Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c EU GDPR).

Retention periods

The storage period of the data varies. Your personal data will be stored in ILIAS for no longer than the duration of your work/studies or participation in further education and training, unless there are longer statutory retention periods (e.g. obligation to provide proof of regular participation in compulsory training courses as part of your work at the UMG). The legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b EU GDPR. Your data will be deleted once your activity has ended and the statutory retention periods have expired.

Cookies

The ILIAS eLearning system uses a session cookie. This small text file only contains an encrypted character string that helps you navigate the system. The cookie is deleted when you log out of ILIAS or close the browser.

Server log files

When you visit this website, data that your browser automatically transmits to us is recorded by our web server and stored in so-called server log files. These are

The data logged in this way is stored exclusively for the purposes of technically error-free display and data security (legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f EU GDPR) and is neither associated with other personal data nor passed on to third parties. The data will be stored on UMG systems for a period of 60 days and will be deleted after this period has expired.

Encryption

The ILIAS eLearning system uses TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content that you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line.

State-of-the-art transport encryption means that the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Request by e-mail or telephone

If you contact us by e-mail or telephone, we will store and process your inquiry, including all personal data (name, inquiry, etc.), for the purpose of processing your request. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b EU GDPR if your request is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of the inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f EU GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a EU GDPR) if this has been requested; consent can be revoked at any time.
